It Started...
When my sister Miriam was hospitalized with a serious illness, her life changed in many ways. Always the first person we’d call in a fashion crisis, Miriam, in her hospital gown, was reduced to ‘just another patient.’ She was almost unrecognizable. One day I surprised Miriam with a custom hospital gown made from a regular dress and tailored to meet hospital regulations.
The Mission
Improve the quality of life for hospital patients.
Through unique designs, Heel provides patients with a sense of individuality and identity. Children deserve to look and feel like children - whether they’re running in the park or lying in a hospital bed.
The Idea
When children are hospitalized, their lives are upended. Routines and environments change and all sense of normalcy is thrown out the window - along with their clothing.
In its place: fashionable, comfortable, and functional hospital gowns.
Kids belong in cute clothes, not starchy, oversized, hospital gowns that are plain awful.
The Solution
When a sick person receives a colorful gown that is fitted, non-revealing, but still easily accessible to medical personnel, they are given security, dignity, and a good time!
Heel gowns give children a reason to smile through a challenging time.
